Carmen Ballvé

Photographer. Her work has appeared in major Spanish newspapers and magazines and been exhibited in and outside Spain. Notable among her projects is Batey, on Haitian sugar plantation workers, which was shown in London and Edinburgh. Her collaboration with the American nonprofit organisation The Denan Project has taken her to Ethiopia, Peru, and Mongolia. A project in Tanzania led to the publication of Acaba cuando llego, which was awarded first prize for the best art book in 2016 by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. La mirada cercana was recently on display at the Museo San Telmo in San Sebastián.

Fernando Maquieira

Photographer. He has published artistic books such as Nocturna, Veinte días México, and Alucinosis, and his photographs have appeared in newspapers and magazines such as El País and XLSemanal, among others. Various institutions and photography festivals have hosted exhibitions of his work; for instance, the series Guía nocturna de museos was presented in 2017−18 at Tabacalera, Madrid, as part of the PHotoEspaña festival, and at the Alhambra in Granada. His photos have also been shown in Belgium, Italy, South Africa, Lithuania, and South Korea. He is often commissioned by national and international cultural institutions and museums to photograph artworks and architecture.

José María Parreño

Poet and essayist with a PhD in art history. He was coordinator of the literature department at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and director of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Esteban Vicente in Segovia. He has been a lecturer at several Spanish and American universities and currently teaches at the Fine Arts Faculty in Madrid. Cultivating various genres, he has published a dozen books, including Viajes de un antipático (1999), Poemas de amor y no (2005), Un arte descontento (2006), and Pornografía para insectos (2014), and contributes to various media as an art critic.

Sonia Sánchez

Graphic designer, art director of the project. She has pursued a career in editorial design, visual identity, and exhibition design in close collaboration with artists, architects, curators, publishers, and leading cultural and publishing institutions (MoMA, Museo Nacional del Prado, Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Phaidon, Rizzoli New York). Her work has been published in prestigious design magazines and has won international awards.
